Hurricanes and Tornadoes.

This table describes same information about two strong winds. In this table there are two winds, hurricanes and tornadoes. Both of them destroy the land.

The minimum wind speed for the hurricanes is 74 pm but the tornadoes is less with 40 mph. Whereas the maximum wind speed of the hurricanes is 155 – 200 mph ,the maximum tornadoes speed is 250 – 300 mph which means that it is higher than that of a hurricane. On the other hand, the classification scale of the hurricanes is Saffir – Simpson C1 – C5 but for the tornadoes the Fujita F0 – F5. The duration of the hurricanes is 1 week average whereas tornadoes mostly only last a few minutes, same up to a few hours. However the average width of storm for the hurricanes is 300 miles but for the tornadoes 100 – 600 meters some up to 1.5 km wide. Hurricanes can be predicted 2-3 days in advance for a wide area but they can usually be predicted more exactly where they will hit 6 – 10 hours beforehand, whereas the tornadoes’ warning is 20 minutes or less. The last difference is where they start. The hurricanes start over worm oceans but the tornadoes usually over land.

Around the college

We are all students at Abu Dhabi Men's College.

We have to be in the classroom on time.

Physics and chemistry lessons take place in a laboratory.

There are no healthy food outlets in our canteen/cafeteria.

I read books and magazines and also do IELTS practice in our college library, which is large and well-stocked.

Student services organise activities for us.

The academic office performs many administrative tasks, such as issuing ID cards and arranging exam schedules.

There is a special learning centre in our library, called the Active Learning Zone, to provide students with extra help with their English.

Conferences and large meetings are often held in the college auditorium, which is also where we do our progress tests.

cars

This table shows us the specifications of four popular medium-sized saloon cars. In this essay I will analyze this information.

First I will talk about the Toyota Corolla. It’s about $15, 550 with a 1400cc engine; also with 48 miles per gallon and it’s made in Japan. The second car, which is also made in Japan, is the Nissan Micra. It costs $ 15,500 and it has the smallest engine of the four cars which is 1200cc and 52 miles per gallon. The third car I am going to talk about is the Volkswagen Golf which is made in Germany. It has the biggest engine of the four cars which is 1600cc. Also it costs $ 18,250 and goes for 40 miles per gallon. And finally the last car is the Ford Focus. The Ford Focus has the same size as the Toyota Corolla’s engine and it costs about $15,800. It’s made in the USA and it does 50 miles per gallon.

In summary, as the table says, the most economical car is the Nissan Micra and it is the cheapest car.

Top Ten Date-producing Countries, 2001

There are many countries in the world farming palm-trees to produce dates. These are the top ten date-producing countries in 2001.

There are ten countries producing dates. Egypt is the top producer of these ten countries. It produced around 1,100,000 tonnes. The second country is Iran. It produced 250,000 tonnes less than Egypt. And the UAE comes in third. It produced 700,000 tonnes. Saudi Arabia produced less than the UAE by about 50,000 tonnes. Also Pakistan is one of the ten. It produced around 650,000 tonnes as it says in the chart. Iraq is close to Pakistan’s figure. The top of the last four countries is Algeria and it is half of the UAE’s production. Oman is less than Algeria. It produced 201,000 tonnes. Sudan is also one of the ten. It produced 190,000 tonnes. The last country is Libya which produced around 100,000 tonnes.

In summary, I can see that Egypt came top and Libya is the last. There are a lot of countries interested in that kind of farming.
